The Isle of Wight is situated just off the south coast of England opposite the ports of Southampton, Portsmouth and Lymington that run
scheduled passenger and vehicle services to the Island.
The Isle of Wight covers approximately 147 square miles (380 square km) and is made up of rolling countryside, chalk downs, sandy beaches and small towns
and villages. All of the main towns are on the coast except for the county town of Newport that is situated at the head of the River Medina.
Over half the Island is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.

FACT #4: Cowes Week
Cowes Week is the longest running regular yachting regatta in the world and started in 1826. It is held at the beginning of August and is famous for its firework display held on the final Friday.
