Newport Isle of Wight
Newport is the county town of the Isle of Wight and is situated roughly central to the Island at the head of the River Medina. Newport is famous for the Isle of Wight Festival that is held annually in Seaclose Park on the outskirts of the town.
The town provides ample shopping facilities with many famous high street shops and supermarkets. Including a recently completed shopping centre in the heart of the town next to the Southern Vectis Bus Station.
Newport has a rich history dating back to Roman times and visitors to Newport can visit the Roman Villa at Newport or Carisbrooke Castle where Charles 1 was imprisoned before his execution in 1649.
Situated on the outskirts of Newport is St. Mary's Hospital that provides the Island's A&E service. The famous prisons of Parkhurst, Albany and Camp Hill are opposite along with the Dodnor Industrial and Retail Estate that provides many additional retail and business premises.
